Default Your favourite moose call?

Hey all,
Thinking about a new moose call for next year. In my youth I tried the coffee can/leather string with no success then went to birch bark (boughten at first, homemade in later years) which has worked well. Lately am thinking about the new fibreglass calls.
What do you all use?

Everyone in my family has been calling moose with nothing but our voice and cupped hands for years. Works great and you never forget your call at home or in camp

'Heeyyyyyy Baby! Mooooosie moosie moosie! Hey girl, don't be that way!! I got something for you, moosie!! You ain't so bad, big boy....Heyyyyyyy!!'......

That actually may have even worked once. Hollering like that and a cow stuck her head out of the bush to see who was making the racket...

I'm on my second CT birch bark call in 20 yrs. The first one was strapped to a quad and rode countless km's and stood up well. For the price and the sound they make, it was a good buy.

Same. Considered making one out of a roll of birch bark for more distance, but the idea of making one out of an old Fisher Price baseball bat sounded a lot more fun.

X2
On one occasion in my younger days, we kinda over did it in camp the first night out. I had drank way to much, and the next morning wasn't feeling so good. Woke up had a coffee or two and left in the pre dawn light to my chosen call site. I had chosen an area with a cut block across the slope of a hill, and made my way to the far corner of the high side of the block. Below the cut, a creek ran with a good size bog.

I let out a poor excuse of a cow call and started to upchuck to the point of dry heaves. After several minutes of this, I started to wonder why I was even there. Made promises to god and swore I'd never drink again. About the time I was going to give up, I stood up and had a scan of the cut, to my surprise a young bull was making his way across the cut in my direction. I sat back down on a stump and quietly waited while shaking like a leaf from the dehydration. It didn't take long and this young bull appeared roughly 40 yards to my right and appeared to be circling. I touched off a round from my .308 and had a moose down. The rest of the morning wasn't good for me. I have been eternally grateful for the help I got from my dad and uncle's getting this moose out of the cut. This was in the days before quads and trikes, I our moose hauling equipment consisted of an old cement wheelbarrow, and packs. I sweated out the nights libations the rest of the day, and was in my bed long before the rest of the group was.

BW, that is a great story! My FIL hunted with a fellow who had the same experience after they had taken too many liberties with the bottle in the hunting cabin. One of the guys went outside to heave, and a bull moose came out to greet him in the darkness. Poor guy was shocked out of his wits!

I once called one in inadvertently on a job site in the backwoods of New Brunswick. Won't give too many details other than I was making use of a tree and didn't think anyone could hear the pooting and grunting...

Same with me. I don't call elk very well, or geese for that matter, but I do okay with moose.

Just my cupped hands and my mouth, that's it for 30 years now, tried a coffee can and boot lace years ago and just for luck I still carry it in my hunting box but have not used it is years.

Had a big bull 51" come in on a string last year, text book, called the evening before and went back the next day, he lit up like a freight train and came in to 85 yards before getting hammered, my buddy had the tag and couldn't believe a moose would come like that, it was Oct 3 and they were in full rut, nothing like listening to a huge bull thrashing the brush and coming in to the call.

I have been using the same for years but in light grey. I cut both ends off the bat and drilled a hole near both ends to attach a light rope for carrying it. It's light, weatherproof and indestructible. Has accounted for a few bulls and really carries the sound on a calm frosty morning!

Believe it or not I cut out the bottom of a Tropicana orange juice container and it carries your call well and sounds just a like moose paddles scraping on bush when raking. Called in lots. Arrowed few, haha
