There is a new (and quite nice) boat launch just north of Birch Bay (the northwest part of the lake).
Access is via the east end of TWP 420 (the road that separates Lacombe
and Ponoka counties).
Good luck.

Just back from a 6 day camping trip to Gull Lake, we always stay at Brewer's campsite at the south end of the lake. Didn't take the boat there this year but last year I found 2 GREAT spots to launch, close to the north end. By great I mean, not at all busy and close to all the niceties you have in the north end.

The place we actually launched was on the NE corner. We drove there from Brewers by heading east on the highway and turning north onto 792. Follow 792 north some 16km till you hit 422. Turn left onto it (heading west) and it's a short 6.5km to the launch. While there I only saw one other boat as I was retrieving ours (ironically virtually the same boat which got us to struck a conversation).

While cruising the lake we came across the one on the NW corner as mentioned here. This was absolutely deserted. It's a new launch, you can tell by the fresh asphalt in the area. Nice long docks but they were absolutely covered in gull poo. My kids had a tough time picking their way through, as we came ashore to stretch our legs.

Next time we take the boat there we'll be using one of the two near the north end. No line up and much prettier area to ride about. Also looks like a better spot for fishing as there are far less boats cruising about than the busy south end.
