In the case of Whitecap (and possibly Enhance too) - they actually pay for the CO2. It comes off in the article as if they're doing the power plants a favor. In reality, the power plants are generating a revenue stream from downstream O&G, which is, in a way, keeping coal fired electricity around longer.

I stumbled upon Enhance this summer while scouting for deer. I was driving by and saw the iced wellheads and knew immediately what they were, so I pulled over and googled them. Pretty neat how they take CO2 from Redwater

Maybe a good idea today but what are the long effects of doing this, contaminate the under earth that cant be repaired like the under water sheds. Wells are known to leak. We just keep on destroying our selves for profit.

Oh please.

How is injecting CO2 into a hydrocarbon bearing formation any worse than the hydrocarbons themselves being there?
