Thumbs up Blue Jays 2021

I’m really impressed with the signings so far. Looks likely Marcus Semien was just added to Springer and Yates. Still need another quality SP but this has the makings of the best lineup in baseball.
Buckle up! Should be fun!

If they can get Vladimir Jr on the treadmill and teach him how to play 1st base, get some quality starts out of their rotation, and Biggio, Bichette, Hernandez and Gurriel continue to improve, they should be okay. Not sure about the bull pen, and definitely need to find a closer and third baseman. Hopefully Grichuk steps up now that he's being challenged by Springer. I'm sure Jansen is under pressure as a starting catcher who bats .183.

I'm really curious to see if Vladi Jr. spent the off season learning how to play defense or eating granny's home cooking.

I was reading somewhere a while back that Vladimir changed up his diet and worked out this off season. He dropped 32 pounds so far

Last time a Toronto team went on a real tear, they took all of Canada along for a wild and magical ride. The Raps gave sports fans something we have never experienced before. Sure we had the Jays' World Series, but because of social media, it seemed to draw in much more of the country. Fingers crossed the Blue Jays make the playoffs. Get in and anything can happen.

The Semien signing should push Biggio to 3rd. Yates solidifies the ‘pen. I’m good with the lineup (it’s actually really good) and defence. Their most glaring need is to acquire a quality starting pitcher. That’s the last piece this year. I hope they pull it off!

from what ive seen in the off season training jr is looking good hes dropped quite a bit of weight. He will be starting first base this year, with the signing of Semien, Biggio will be pushed over to third. Jansen will be phased out as starting catcher this year for Kirk. Grichuk, Springer, and Gurriel will round out the outfield. Im looking forward to this season

Should be a fun team to watch. They have a really solid lineup and have improved their defense which should cut down on some runs. Hoping they sign Walker and possibly Paxton to get some starting pitching depth. Hopefully Pearson takes a step this year too.

Yeah I agree, Vladdy looks to have dropped some serious weight.

Jr drops too much weight, might change how he hits. He's been this size quite a while.

Ya I’m hoping it changes how he hits- for the better! More bat speed, better launch angle etc... here’s hoping he unlocks his potential this year!

Don’t gotta hit the long ball every at bat. Plus you lose weight gain muscle your bat speed isnt gunna slow down. He will be much more efficient at the plate this year.

Jays made another trade tonight it sounds like. A few prospects for a LH starting pitcher from the Mets.

Bottom of the 6th tie game

Are going to see all the games without paying $32 a month to Sportsnet?

My tv doesn’t have the app I would need a fire stick or something

Ya, the runner on second sure adds an element of intrigue to extras. Rather than just waiting for the home team to mash one out of the park... it brings more baseball strategy, pressure and excitement.

I stayed out of this thread for a bit because my power went out just after lunch and didn't come on until late last night and I wanted to watch the Jays opener game with no spoilers and boy am I glad I did! Wow that was a fantastic game! Great start to the season... So much depth pitching!

Default Jays are killin' it

Setting all kinds of team and MLB records. 14 wins in last 16 games. The just played 4 game series in Baltimore had the Jays pound the Orioles 22-7 today and scored 47 runs in the 4 game series. They are now 2nd in the AL East. Every player seems to be upping their game. Pitching and offense are clicking quite well. Just hopin' they can keep it up. I haven't missed a game since May

Ya it’s been a great run. If they can squeak in the post season, they stand as good a chance as anyone in the league! That line up is a thing of absolute beauty

Man, would that ever be fun to watch again.

I was still in High School when they were ringing that championship bell.

Had to skip some classes to catch a few afternoon games.

I'll NEVER forget Joe Carters 9'th inning walk off dinger to repeat as World Series Champs. What a GREAT moment in Canadian sports history.

I still get goosebumps watching that. Hearing that call,, "Well hit down the left field line, WAY back, and GONE!!!" Just awesome

It was nice of Baltimore to provide some batting practise for the boys, that HR jacket is getting worn out, Vlad's over 40 HR's on the season could hit 50 or more the 12 runs in the ninth was a beauty LOL

Sweeping the Yank's was great to watch, hoping they can sweep Tampa

Watching the Jays lately is like nothing we've seen since 1993. They're not only beating good teams, but they're even following through with teams they ought to be hammering like Baltimore. Shows they won't let up just because the going got easy. They're hungry.
Two more series with Tampa, two with the Twins, and a final season series with the Wanks. Lots of good baseball to watch in September. Anything can happen.
GO JAYS!

Pretty exciting and fun to watch ball, I’d rather watch a slug fest than a no hitter any day. (And I’m old enough to remember watching Dave Steib’s no-hitter)

Long row to hoe, but go hard boys!
