I can remember laughing at All in the Family and trying not to miss an episode.

I learned later that Norman Lear expected Archie's right wing bigotry would be seen as a parody that would lead audiences to dislike Archie. Lear was shocked that some people liked him. I can understand how that happened, especially if a person had some empathy for Archie's upbringing and life circumstances.

Unfortunately, I knew a few people who didn't get it, particularly in regard to Archie's misogyny.

The show is still funny today. Thanks for reminding me of it and linking to some YouTube episodes.

cause that was me. My father was naturally an Archie on his own but didnt like the show at all. Maybe that is why my mother and my siblings liked the show so much. Nature imitating life!
