It might be the people that don't need a license. While on a sheep hunt, I bumped into a group that shot a mountain goat in a zone that has never been open for a goat harvest to the average resident (at least in my years).

I recall reading somewhere in the literature that is the population survey's don't count at least 50 animals in that area, they close the season even if no nanny was harvested the previous year.

my number might be wrong, but there was definitely a population requirement in the information I read.

Then open more zones up! There's 75 goats on Crowsnest/Seven Sisters Mountain alone! At 50 animals even, 1 IF that hunter is successful isn't going to break the herd. Atrocious lottery. BC can harvest OFC and we need to lottery for 3 tags. Even 9 is BS.

yep,
lots of goats in 406 and 408, one goat in each zone would not hurt pops down here.

Congrats! You going to hire a guide to get you on them? I have also heard stories of people volunteering to help due to the rarity of the tag/hunt.

A good friend of mine drew Zone R down here in lethbridge. So very jealous considering I was quading with him the day before. He is over the moon excited. Hoping to tag along with him for most of his trips. He will be scouting any chance he gets. Try to place cams way up high over the summer and see what's slithering around. I hope I can put my hands on one as most people will never experience it.

Suck it up princess! What makes you think these women aren't serious mountain hunters. I see you live in Edmonton. Congrats to all that got drawn for the goat tags!

Not sure how bad you want one but might be able to get one in B.C. a few outfitters may want to sell some hunts.

We killed a mature billy and the next year the zone was closed. That’s stomps on the theory that after a nanny is shot by the draw holder the zone is closed the next season. Something to think about....

My sense of humour is perfectly fine... if putting somebody down for drawing a lottery tag and acting like your more entitled of something is funny to you then I have nothing else to say ..good luck to the young lady and her quest for a ab goat

Curious to see if the lottery draw will disappear altogether in the coming years with all the extra harvester pressure.
