As long as they don't beat him so badly that he can't get beaten again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day.......

This warms my heart . I hope they make sure his servings are enough that he can come back for extra helpings.

How does one send a gift basket to the inmates involved?

Have you been under a rock? They guy murdered two people and their 5 year old grandson and likely tortured them all first because his computer was full of research to that effect. Google his name. He was sentenced to 75 years without parole yesterday.

Gift baskets either way! Its important to moderate the beatings though, one doesn't want to overdo things and completely break the new punching bag in its first outing.

I disagree. A 22 to the ear would be better. We are paying for a lot of medical expenses I can assure you. Plus meals and all that crap in prison.

Considering how badly wasted our tax dollars are on other things, I say pour money into keeping him alive, so the bearings can continue with regularity. As much as I hate wasteful spending, it's nice to see justice served. And a lifetime of regular beatings still won't be enough to compensate for the suffering of his victims and their families.

Sorry, but I disagree with you about the .22 part.

I think its worth the taxpayers' money to keep him alive so he can suffer in that manner for the next few decades or however long. And I think it should be in the news every time he gets a beating, so at least we all know his life is being made as miserable as possible.

Think about how miserable the lives of the family of that little boy will be from now on.
I'd call it Payback Time.

That concept beats the heck out of many other government make-work projects. Those unionized health care workers and guards need work too! I think as a result it should be an initiative from the left side of the political spectrum

Waiting for a news agency to FOI request the surveillance footage of the beating, I'd like to loop it into a heartwarming gif.

One way to mitigate the costs would be for the gov't to broadcast his beatings on Pay Per View. The funds could pay for his ongoing medical care and the leftovers could fund all manner of victims charities. Schedule it as such: any time the PPV kitty reaches $25-50K or some threshold that would double any expected medical costs, Garland is set out into general population

It is not our place to make people suffer. Hang/shoot him and be done.

This is one I don't mind paying for. Hope he lives a long long time with his new friends.

He was taken to hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition with soft tissue injuries.

He best be getting use too those "soft tissue injuries" I don't want to remember this guy, see him in the news, read his book or have any updates on his condition.

Agree. Anyone who is doing or condoning this type of reaction (which is not justice) is lowering themselves to his level.

Bang, flop, let the birds clean up the mess. Message sent and population protected.

Kinda reduces us to the same class as him doesn't it.

Ending his life makes some sense, he doesn't have a life in prison and it costs us a ton of money. Not to mention the chance that he could escape and do more damage.

On the other hand, he could be innocent. It's not the first time overwhelming evidence convicted the wrong guy.

I'm just glad I don't have to decide his fate. I couldn't do it. I couldn't torture any man, no matter how despicable and I couldn't put a man in prison for life.
I know some people have to be imprisoned and some would be better off dead, for our sake and for theirs, but I couldn't do it.

I have no issues with our justice system doing it. I do have a problem with self appointed judges doing it. A lot of good people suffer when that becomes acceptable. That is why it is illegal.
