Default Hearing Protection/game ear advice and who uses them

For this up coming season my goal is to use some sort of hearing protection after 16yrs (Drilling Rigs sure havent helped). My hearing has taken a beating

Im looking for in the field reviews with certain brands or models pros/cons.
whether you use them for waterfowl hunting, big game hunting or practicing shooting.Muffs or hearing aids with noise decibal cut off?

I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions. Are these new game hearing aids as cracked up as they seem to be? Hope this thread encourages new comers to the sport to start wearing hearing protection. Sure wish i did.

I've got a set of sound amplifying/ noise clipping muffs.

You here every squirrel, and every grouse, like they are a D6 coming through the bush.

God forbid if the neighbour is late feeding his cows too.

Then if you are near a road you'll know who's got squeaky springs, and aggressive tires that spit rocks.

Other than that they work great, when I shot my one buck I actually heard him thump as he hit the ground, a wopping 50 yds away.

Default game ears

I have a pair that have a decidamp style ear plug and the behind the ear amplifier/shunt. They work on a larger hearing aid battery and once you form the little tube they are comfortable and work very well. I picked these up at Cabelas in Phoenix right from a game ear rep. His advice was this model as they are relatively inexpensive, work well and really do muffle the rigle sound well and also are the best selling model.

EP3 Sonic defenders.
You can still hear but they stop impact noise.
Bout 15 bucks a pair and...reusable.
No batteries etc...
Also..very comfy in the ear.

I only use them for range days though and waterfoul.

I know several people inclunding me who are happy with E.A.R. Inc electronic plugs. They are a bit spendy but comfortable and work well.
