It doesn't make any difference. You're paying most of the fees even if your usage is very low.
Makes me wonder why I bother with my intelligent thermostat trying to be energy efficient. I might as well say screw it and have the house super warm. I'm paying anyway thanks to the idiots in charge.
I wish I could claim asylum in Montana. I'm sick of it here.

Just had $896 propane fill, $64 carbon tax clearly identified on invoice. Based on the rebate I'm getting it should be a wash, though I am looking for ways to weatherproof the house to see if I can pay less. Hopefully there will be some incentives when they roll out the plans.

Has anyone else seen this property tax charge on there bill?

On mine too, and my readings are from Now 26 to Dec 22?

I have a property with a mobile home on it. It is vacant and has been for a few years. I haven't used gas at all in it , but there was a meter there. They wanted to bill me even though we used no gas. Then when I told them to remove the meter, they wanted to charge me to remove their meter for a service I did not use.

Maybe tell them you are swapping out the mobile for a new one for new renters, and great news, you will be using gas again. But of course they will have to pull the meter for the swap, and you can phone them to put it back when you get the new mobile in place...

Got my bill today. $68 in usage, $99 service/admin/carbon levy. Carbon levy alone was $17.91
But it's OK, because the $100 rebate the girlfriend got will cover the carbon tax increase.......................
Stupid NDP.

If an individual or family has an income below a certain threshold they get a rebate to help "offset" the costs of the carbon tax.

This whole thread is a lot of whining about very little. I very much dislike the ndp and carbon tax but my gas bill increased by $6.54 over a 25 day billing period (only half of that was in January) due to the carbon tax. Sure the variable fees went up compared to previous months because I used more gas... and yes the end of December/ beginning of January was cold so my gas bill in total was $142 but the carbon tax portion isn't going to break the bank. The good part was the price of gas per GJ went from $3.10 in dec to $2.87 in Jan.
I leave the 3000 sq/ft house on 23 deg and the garage at 10 deg because I like to be comfortable. I'm not going to worry about the things I can't change like an extra $1/GJ on nat gas.

Agree with you to a degree.
I think the options were either a 5.% PST on darn near everything, or the carbon tax. I believe the carbon tax is the lesser of the evils for most families, but I have no comparison facts to back that up....

Stick your head in the sand and dont take it out I guess is your point of view.Get reamed by BS "save the world" taxes that do nothing to lower evil green house gas emissions.Pay more money to heat your home when Canada collectively produces 2% of worldwide carbon emissions yet at the same time Canada's northern boreal forest cleans up 50% of the total carbon emissions of the planet....Yeah us guilty world destroying Canadians deserve to be slapped with a carbon tax since we are such brutal polluters.Never mind the fact that one of the founders of Greenpeace has outright said that climate change is a sham that will be used by socialist governments to implement new taxes.Just keep your head buried in the sand and take it up your backside.

OK, thanks. I was hoping this was a gas rebate. As little as I make I am sure it is still more than the threshold for the carbon tax.

You couldn't of taken what I said much further out of context. Are you trolling or does your reading comprehension suck? Or both?
I made it clear at the beginning of my post I despise the ndp and carbon tax but crying about the increase in my natural gas bill isn't worth increasing my blood pressure. The thread is about gas bills, they went up a whopping $1 per GJ, that's not a big deal. Now the carbon tax is a big deal and a terrible idea. Hopefully the next time we head to the polls all the people who couldn't be bothered to go vote last time will get out and cast a ballot and kick the ndp to the curb where they belong and maybe the next gov can abolish this new tax. Or maybe like most taxes we will be stuck with it forever.

I used 11.3 GJ for $41.23
Carbon Levy $10.43
After other BS charges $130.59
This looks like a 25% charge on gas usage to me unless I am being charged a carbon levy on service charges.

Just got my January gas bill $283.54
Cost of gas 129.15
Carbon levy $35.26
GST $13.50
(so thats almost $50 to the govt)
The other $100 is for things like
Rate riders $39.86
Admin fee 6.97
Delivery charge fixed 27.24 & variable 31.56
Seems like delivery charges and admin fees are getting out of hand as well!!!
This is for lowered thermostat and unheated rooms in a 2000sqft
AND.....because I work hard and educated myself, I earn a good income to support my family (instead of smoke pot and whine for bigger govt handouts and crippling debt=taxes) I will not get a carbon tax refund. Nice isn't it.
The harder you work, the more you get to pay for the stupid.
They should have just renamed the carbon tax, the "Pay The Lazy More Tax"
I know it not that simple, but it is the true intentions of what has been done with it.

Don't forget next year the "levy" increases, and the year after that and after that... 2019 can't come soon enough.

If you look at it there is a tax on a tax. GST is charged on the Carbon Tax. When I phoned they said Carbon Tax isn't a Tax But a Levy. So Charge for air then tax it.
