Week three of prepping for trail race season.
St.Paddys Day run March 10.
Calgary 1/2 in June
Leg 3 of Sinister 7 in July
Hopefully use grocery air miles and get out to Queen Charlettes for 1/2 late July or...
Do Fat Dog 60(doubtful)
Then family does BlackSpur in Kimberly.
I'm 20-25 pounds heavier than end of season last Sept. I've never weighed this much in all my life... so my training and age demands a slow start. Treadmill and core work has been daily for 2.5 weeks. you Really gonna try to quit the sugar and carbs again.
Last Sat I tried to hit some of my trail runs in the hopes that the sledders would have pounded the snow down.
Sledders are kinda lettin me down. Cmon boys! Get out for a few runs.
The snowpack is runnable if the temp is in the minuses
Not so doable if it's over +4 or so
As you can see..
When I hit some areas.. or the road .. the ice gives me some real grief and slipping really takes a tole on my bad knee....not to mention the ouch! you get hitting the ice.
Now the world of running has gear like the world of hunting..... but it's all 'yuppy expensive'.... and I'm not gear hound (and wife says NO to stupid purchases cause we don't have a lot o cash).
So common sense.... and $10 bucks spent at the local hardware store should give me a good fix.
1/2 inch hex screws
Shoe Goo (love that stuff... use it like Franks Hot Sauce.. but not food)
And voila!
This is 1/2 way done... I figure stability ice problem solved.
Anyone else come up with cheap effective outdoor fixes?
