Antlerless elk draw = can't buy over the counter license?
I was drawn for antlerless elk in 521 this year and just called Alberta Relm about it. Now I am thinking I should have read the draw regs in more detail (this is my first draw license that I have received).
Apparently you are only allowed one elk license per season. So it is not possible for me to buy an over the counter elk license to hunt 3-point bulls in 521 or any other WMU.
I was planning on hunting other WMU's but now it looks like my only option is to use the draw license in 521. I think I may have screwed up part of my elk season with the draw....
Can anyone verify that this is true? Thanks

Yup. You learned the value of reading carefully. Unfortunate, but you aren't the first.
No point getting twisted about it. Just enjoy your elk hunt that you will be able to do.

Thanks for confirming my oversight on this one. I should dream less about elk and read the regs closer.

You will be fine. 521 has lots of good quality cow elk. I took one a few years back and it was finished triple A.
Good luck.

Good luck with the cow draw.
Mine is in zone 360.
I used to hunt 522 also, filled many cow tags up there too.

You're not the first to do this; no point beating yourself up over it.
I would bet that a few people will read this Thread and say: "D'OH!!!" after they realize that they made the same mistake that you did.
Good luck with your elk hunt.

Only the few that actually bother to read the regulations.

Just another reason to make sure they teach reading comprehension in schools.

Yeah that's tough luck to have your "plans" messed up but did you really think it was ok to kill two elk a season?
A draw doesn't mean you get to double up you harvest that year. Including archery seasons.

I got my late season cow in 521, way easier to get a cow then a legal bull out there... I'd say I see about 30 cows to the legal bull...

If you make a mistake, and you accept that it was your mistake, and you are content to live with it, I could care less. The issues usually arise when someone makes a mistake, and then won't accept any of the responsibility for that mistake, choosing instead to complain about the system, the regulations, or how they are written.

Read this carefully guys. The OP is actually posting it to help others as he stated in his opener. He's asking to verify it but he already knew. He did take a few subtle borderline shots but the way people get on a first timer is where some of us are going and it isn't right. Before a submit is hit we all should take a step back and determine if we're on someones case. He even thanks people for his oversight about three posts lower. No where did the OP blame anyone other than himself. There is a great Montreal Coach, now a Senator, who came out a few years ago and admitted he couldn't read. Theres lots of times I've had to double and triple check to see if I got things right. Flame away.

Looks to me like the OP has accepted that he made a mistake without complaining as well; and was just looking to verify what he suspected he already knew (admittedly a bit late)..............................then still got crapped on.
Bagwan beat me to it.
