Default Cardiff Kayak Club

There now appears to be a Canoe and Kayak club at Cardiff. Was out there is morning with my float tube. Nice and quiet me floating and several on the shore fishing. Two guys showed up and started racing their kayaks up and down the pond. A third later showed up. There appeared to be training or something. Luck this time I was along the far bank and they did not bother me that much. Not sure about the shore fisherman. Kayakers seemed to be getting close to the casting area.

Two days ago me and my fishing buddy were getting our tubes ready when it appeared a kayak class was just leaving the old trailer. By the time we got on the pond there were only others tubers.

Is there a prize if you catch a kayaker? What hook would be best BH or a dry?

I was out kayaking over to the other side of the lake one really early morning to fish. Nobody was at the docks so I swung by a closer than usual and of course got tangled in some line. With my momentum I pulled a bunch of line out (some how not his rod?) and got a little tangled. It initially got caught in the front of my kayak then me. After few minutes I was free, then this idiot comes running down from his truck cussing at me. I politely yelled at him (I was pretty far out) that if he has line in the water he should be at his rod. He cussed at me a bit more when I was paddling away.

Ticked me off, but at least I had a pretty good day catching bows on copper johns and leeches, away, by myself, on the far end of the lake

Oh and this was a stocked trout lake in the Peace Country, not Cardiff!

I'm guessing the only thing a guy could do about the kayak club is talk to their grand poobah and get a copy of their training schedules and fish accordingly.

If you want to land them the best hook would be a big treble hook and 80# braided line. If you can snag them on the top of the head they don't fight much. If you want to make them just go away treat them like seals on the coast....slingshot.

Catch any nice trout ?

What I'm more worried about is if you do not see/hear a kayak behind you, your back-cast might get more than you bargained for.
