Default 45 acp reloading advice

Picked up my first pistol this summer and I love it. Man can a guy go through ammo. Picked up my reloading dies this week, primers bullets etc. Any thoughts on powder. Reload for all my rifles but never for hand guns. Just plinking at the range up to 50 yards. Any tips, ideas, past experiences would be appriciated. Too expensive now a days for the old trial and error.

I've always used 231 for my .45 and it has worked well for me.
I just recently sold the gun but i still have many thousands of reloaded rounds for it.. a bunch of reloading components aswell.

231 is a very good powder, as is universal, IIRC.
I tried Longshot, but it needs a heavier charge than recommended to burn clean.
Just keep it at about 980 with a 230 grain bullet, and have fun!

I disagree about the Titegroup. Albiet a tad dirty it's probably the most consistent powder on the market for 45ACP. Try putting 4.9gn of it behind a 230 RN.
