Default remington 700 xcr reviews??

I've got my eye on a great deal for a 300 win mag in the remington 700 xcr.
Does anyone have any experience with this model as far as accuracy, recoil weight, action smoothness/noise,dependability? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 338 win mag in the XCR.

The action is smooth and has a much nicer finish than the SPS series.

The stock is still a plastic piece of junk. I've had my stock crack and was just recently replaced by Remington on warranty.

I wasnt overly impressed with the new xmark trigger but it is what it is.

I was still able to decrease the pull weight but there is one trick to it.
Use heat (I used a propane torch) to head the hex heads before you try to turn them. Once you put some heat to them, the expoxy (or whatever the gunk is) will break free.

I have a 300wsm XCR and like it. You have no worries on rusting and doesn't scratch at all, and the trusty old 700 action is as solid as you can get. For the guy that goes hunting and drags his gun up and down mountains and treestands and doesn't want to baby his gun all the time, this is your gun to have.. I wish I went with the 300 win mag and not the wsm.

curious why you prefer the 300win mag over the 300 wsm. Losing an extra 2 inches sure makes the gun easier to handle in brush. The velocity / performance is literally identical.

I don't like the way it feeds into the barrel, I missed out on a good elk because I couldn't get the bullet out of the magazine and into the barrel quietly. I heard the same thing from others, 300wsm's don't feed good.

Thank you for the good advice, Its a 300 win mag, barely used and they want 700$ for it. I'm out of the country for awhile so I had my brother pick it up today to try it out. I hope it works out, I want a 300 win bad. Is that a good price?

I paid $825 brand new for mine but it was one of those "old stock, last one" kind of deals.

I think they go for around $1100 new so it sounds like you got a pretty good deal.

I have one in .270. I've had it for three years and have used it on everything from antelope on the praries to elk in the mountains. I've had through every kind of weather you could possibly encounter. The corrosion coating works outstanding!! I load my own rounds and it is a tack driving machine!! I love everything about it! looks, performance, feel, its a great rifle!! Awsome choice!!

I have one in .375RUM and I love it. The only downfall with the gun is if you get it in a hotrod caliber the lightness of the gun adds to the recoil however .300Win mag aint to bad as far as recoil goes so you will be very happy with it. If you get leupold rings bases and their silver scope has the gold touch to it so it will match nearly perfectly. Enjoy
