That's strange I am sure I saw it listed on McGowans site, but it was a while ago.

Which other Lodges did you buy?

The #1 rule with Muskox hunting is to go where the muskox is and at Aylmer Lake Lodge in the NWT, there is no shortage of Boone and Crockett Muskox!

Blessed is a word I don't use too often, but I feel blessed beyond my hunting dreams to have taken such a magnificent muskox with a full winter coat. A Muskox's undercoat of quivit is absolutely astounding. "Qiviut (pronounced "kiv-ee-ute"), is the downy-soft underwool from the Muskox, it is shed naturally each year during the spring months. It is eight times warmer than sheep's wool, and its 30% finer than the finest cashmere".

These ancients meandered the frozen tundra with the wooly mammoths. As I glassed the frozen tundra I kept thinking about just that! It's a true honor to be in the presence of an animal that has lived for thousands of years.

The memories made on this trip will forever be ingrained in my heart.

If you are wanting an arctic adventure that will be ingrained in your heart forever then this is it!
Cool animal, definitely planning to do the hunt one day!

Don’t really subscribe to the “don’t get high on your own supply” moto eh ?

Congrats to the OP. Fine Muskox, and a nice white wolf to boot!

Well Done!

Took me right back to the days when we lived up there.
Many a successful hunt for the same on Banks Island as well as the mainland NWT.

Not so much IMO.
I took quite a few of them when we lived up there.
Up to 18 months old, they were indeed some of the finest grits a man could chew.
But the older bulls... not so much.
Taste was OK, but consistency like rubber boots.
As a consequence I only took 2 big bulls (still have a B&C skull) and only shot the young ones for grits thereafter.

If the OP's bull is good eating, he got lucky again IMO.

Cheers,
Nog
