I realize that you don’t have to have your line down while you’re sleeping but it defeats the point of staying out there. Also an insulated tent is a must because mine isn’t and it ices up or starts raining when the temperature drops.

I didn't end up fishing all night. Only when I woke up would I drop a line down for 10-15 minutes. I didn't want to risk losing anything down the hole and i was so bundled up in my sleeping bag I wouldn't be able to get to the rod in time anyway!

He said are you going to eat that here. I replied yes I am as I measured it for him. He then said okay some people do not realize you can't transport slot fish in fillets. He agreed that there is nothing like fresh fish cooked right away. While we were eating the walleye, the perch started biting. What a trip!!!!

That's excellent! I love cooking fresh fish on the ice. I was curious how the law would handle cooking slot size fish with tags on the ice. I haven't tried that one yet. I did have F&W come check on me in the morning too.

One thing I don't do is eat enough while fishing. I'm just too busy staring at the flasher or thinking about the next lure or spot to check out. Once I'm back on the highway I realize I'm starving!
