Default lake trout in the bow

I was out fishing yesterday and managed to hook and land a 7-8 pound lake trout.I was wondering if anyone else out there has caught any,as this is the second one I caught.(no not a bully) I realize that the floods played a major part of this I just hope that it doesn't become a problem with the rest of the trout population, what do you guys think?

They've been in there for years, just not caught very often. I'm jealous.

Ya it was an awesome surprise, I guess the concern comes from 30 years of fishing the river up until 2 years ago when I caught my first one 16 inches I never heard of anyone catching one, I guess I shouldn't complain I did catch this one on the fly, I'll just have to consider myself lucky , now you never what's at the end of the line till you see it.lol

They have been there for a long time just not great amounts of them. A few get caught by bowness after the spring run off. They come down from the bearspaw reservoir. Not to much concern I believe they are not able to reproduce in the river.

I caught one years ago below the Dam, ended up landing him about 300 yards downstream by the out-flow...it was around 7-8lbs, what a fight!!
