Default Help from gunsmiths or generally knowledgeable people

Looking at replacing the wood stock on my Remington classic. Would a synthetic stock for a bdl with hinged plate opening fit fine?

The action lengths need to be the same, and if the barrel contours are the same, even better. If the barrel contours are different, you may need to modify the barrel channel if the one on the new stock isn't large enough, or on the other hand, you might be left with a gap between the stock and the barrel if the barrel channel on the new stock is for a larger contour barrel..
