Talking Say hello to the South Country Trappers Local!!

Well, we had a great meeting today! Thanks to all who attended. We elected an executive as follows:
President: Jim Simpson (Longview)
Vice President: Ken Hildebrand (Coleman)
Sec. Treasurer: Kelly Simpson (Longview) (AKA Molly)
Director: Don Scott (Calgary) (AKA Turbo Mulcher)
Director: Rod Graham (Black Diamond) (AKA SW TrappinRG)
Director: Bruce Mackintosh (Twin Butte)

We did it without the help of the ATA Zone Directors, and for now will be operating on our own. As Trapping season is upon us, as well as hunting season and then Christmas, etc., we have tentatively set the next meeting for Sunday, March 10th, 2012. In the meantime, we will be looking for members and planning for future fundraisers. Membership fees were agreed on at $25.00 individual and $40.00 family. If you want to join, please send a cheque payable to the South Country Trappers to:

Kelly Simpson
Box 385
Longview, Alberta T0L 1H0

We will be drafting the bylaws and mailing them out in due course, and updating you here and by email (those who have sent me their email addresses). We hope that this will be an association dedicated to the traditions and the future of trapping, giving us a voice on important issues, and also having a good time getting together.

Congratulations Molly! I have watched your posts on here and you have done a wonderful job in being able to get set up. Sounds like you are going to operate independant of the Trappers Asssociation which is probably a good thing to do. If they can't even come down to help set up you likely wouldn't get much support anyway. I have talked with a couple guys I know in Calgary who will likely join your club.

Good luck, and again great job getting going.

Tick Tock Tick Tock - can you feel the time of the trapper slipping away?

Too many ego's and not enough co-operation.
