Default Skid steer vs. Smalltractor

What's your opinions?? Looking at getting something for snow in the winter. Taking hay to the animals. Have a mower so I won't need it to mow. Would you go with a skid steer or a tractor? Tracks vs wheels? Hp? Attachment recommendations?

There's been a few threads in the last 2 years about this. Take a peek and read through them.

I think tractor is the the way to go, I got a blade for the back of my tractor plus the bucket, bought a grader attachment this spring for the driveway. Lots of different attachments for a tractor down the road if you need. Just my opinion

There is also an endless amount of attachments for skid steers as well.

One advantage of a tractor is that if you are doing random chores with it you can still get in and out easily if you need to have the boom half-raised.

As for wheeled skid steers vs track machines for snow removal, tracked machines tend to ride up on the snow. This is less of an issue if you desire a hard-pack base, but if you want to scrape something clean a wheeled machine might do a slightly better job. All that being said, I still prefer a tracked machine for all-around tasks.

Skid steer with a bale spear attachment for feeding hay and a general purpose snow bucket for clearing snow. The tractor is not nearly as useful or efficient for those two situations. If you get a skid steer get one with a heated cab. A skid steer loader with tracks is called a tracked loader.

I own a tractor for an acreage I have. You can get a tractor fairly cheap for a little guy. A good skid steer is a bit more. I use skidsteers all the time at work. I personally would go with a tracked skid steer. But it really depends on what you plan on using it for.

Depends on funds. Skid steer everyday of the week if you can afford it and tracks would be an advantage. If you can't afford it then get a small tractor. I have both and tractor can't do half of a skid steer and does it half as fast. But I do love my old international
