Default Hydrodipping

Finally getting around to finishing my 9.3x64 project - seriously considering getting the fiberglass stock hydrodipped. Has anyone tried this from the fellow in Calgary? He has sent me sample colours and patterns and I think it would be a very cool method to class up the project. Look at Kelly Hampton on the Alberta Buy and Sell FB page.

Default hydro dipping

I have had 1 rifle done but used Liquid customs in Edmonton they did a great job turned out fantastic, I had them add some air brush black on to the base coat primer before they dipped it. I am getting ready to send them another custom to be done, I think price was reasonable as well.

Broken tine in Cochrane does great work.

How does hydro dipping stand up to wear and tear?

I have a dipped stock and I wasnt that impressed. I had a kuiu pack with the carbon fiber frame, had the rifle shouldered and it rubbed on the edge of the frame a couple times and it pelled the paint right off. Same rifle has lots of little chips in. And I normally baby my gear, it seems like anything that touches it makes a little chip.

Not that great. Don't rub it against anything that isn't soft.

Depending on the look your going for you can do it at home

It's an easy project that you Can do with spray cans and a tub of water

Couple layers of clear coat and it can be durable

Exactly what Stuart at Wildcat told me.. He said it needs a tough clearcoat to protect it.

Will it retain the matte finish when clearcoated,or does that give it a shine/reflect sunlight etc?
