Default Grazing lease and resident trapping

I hunt on a number of grazing leases west of hwy 22 and east of the forestry and have been so far unsuccessful at getting any info from SRD about whether there are any registered traplines in the areas that I hunt. The leaseholders are ok with me trapping (I am a resident trapper targeting coyotes) but I don't want to cross into a registered trapline. The Calgary office refers me to the Edmonton office and the Edmonton office has not responded to my inquiries via phone or email in over a month. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Wouldn't the local land manager be aware of a registered trapline on the lease?

The lease owner should know as well . The trapper on our lease is clearly denoted with contact info on the lease documentation that we have to sign !

If it's west of HWY 22 I would say there's a registered line that the leases are on. Unless it's out in the farmland with just a quarter here and there.

Thanks. A registered trapper who is just adjacent to the area I am interested in has contacted me. Thanks to all for the feedback and the maptown info. I am there all the time but figured this was an SRD topic.

If an officer is unwilling to give you info on the Trapline boundaries, ask to speak to his supervisor. You need to know where the exact boundary is and it may be difficult to determine the actual boundary line. In my mind only he can tell you where the actual boundary is to prevent you from breaking the law. I don't believe this would break the privacy act.

Go to the local F&W that the lease falls under and ask them. They are the ones that should know if it available to trap or if it is part of a trap line.

I contacted both the local F&W office as well as the Edmonton office, got no answer from Calgary, Edmonton would get back to me and never has. Got the FMA map and was contacted by the registered trapper who is immediately adjacent to the area I was talking about and he gave me the boundry so I put in a 1 km buffer and now am trying to get a landowner or two to let me trap 'yotes, I hunt on some of their land yet they seem pretty reluctant to allow selective trapping. Thanks again to all who have weighed in. Its been several years since I have chased fur with steel but have never lost the itch.
