Anybody else have one of these ??? Had one follow me home today (SPS Varmint) Not much load data yet, other than what I got from Hodgdon's site.

I have the same gun and love it. Blows gophers wide open out to 200 yards. I havent been able to shoot anything past there yet. Love the gun and Love the Caliber. I only wish it was cheaper to shoot, while I am dreaming I wish it was the same price to shoot as my 22LR then I would sell me 22.

Are you reloading for it yet ??? I figure close to 350 rounds out of a pound of powder !!!! Not quite as cheap as the Hornet but still pretty cheap.
I had to buy 5 boxes of Factory rounds as nobody has any Brass !!!
Seems to be the thing these days (Still need some for my .375 Ruger)

I have though about selling it or trading it. Would be more interested in tading it for loaded rounds. Obviosly its going to take more brass to equal out in price.

Hi Ryan
Bashaw does not have 17 fireball brass (they have factory loaded ammo) but no 17FB brass yet ( I was there Friday March 14)
I've been resizing 221 Fireball into 17FB, but it takes neck bushing dies, full length dies and then the brass has to be fire formed. It takes some time (along with powder, primers and bullets) but still is cheaper than buying factory loaded ammo.
The 17 fireball (Mach IV) is one dandy cartridge, I really like the one I have

Could be, I would imagine any 17FB brass would sell quick, They were suppose to let me know when they got some in

Default Reloading?

Sorry, do not want to hijack this thread but up untill i joined this Forum I have never heard of .17 calibre.

Is the .17HMR and .17 FB the same cartridge?

How do u reload a rimfire cartridge? Never done it before.

Thx

No, they are not the same.
17HMR is a rimfire basically the 22WMR necked down to 17
17 Remington Fireball is a centrefire cartridge, it's a necked down 221 Fireball, it was called the 17Mach IV at one time.
17 Remington is also a centrefire cartridge, which is based on the 222 Remington Magnum casing.
Neat calibers and very addicting. Be careful!
