Default Mud trout

Fly fishing became a way of life from a very early age, as did fly tieing.
On the Island, you could use three fly rigs for trout, not salmon.
Over the years, I use all traditional trout flys, but eventually developed an optimum rig. The 1st fly brown 2nd green 3 rd black. All snelled and tied on a 10 ft leader---the limit at that time 24.
The brown my own creation was simple--brown tail, and body, gold rib--then 4 hackle tips for wings and two or three hackle tips all brown for the hackle--this fly proved to be my number one trout catcher over 30 years-- anyone going for brookies, it wouldnt hurt to have a few in the tackle box, very easy to tie.
