Default MHX rods and your experience

Is anybody using a HMX rod? Looking at trying my hand at building one. Could a guy build a quality rod his first try?

Currently using a St Croix Mojo Bass casting.

I have built about 10 MHX rods. The ones I own are fabulous rods. I built 2 for a friend, he broke one. The cost of replacing the broken piece is quit high, shipping 2 ways really costs.

As for building a nice one, the first is a bit of a challange but as you gain confidence it gets easier and the final product gets better. Mud hole has some great instructional videos.

There is a guy on the west coast that carries MHX blanks and Mud hole stock. I cannot remember the name of the company off the top of my head.

I really like their fly rod blanks.

https://www.rodbuildersupplies.com
thats the website for the guy on the west coast. cheaper than ordering from mud hole cause you don't pay the duty.
As for the MHX rods, I've build two now and for the price you cant beat them. My advice is to build on cheaper blanks first and then once you get all the muscle memory you can build on the expensive ones!!!
Good luck
