Just wondering if anyone has a line on longer scope base screws for a Browning X-bolt? I'm mounting a scope using the Browning x-locks and all 8 screws are the same length and a couple engage by only a couple threads. The mounting holes in the receiver are deep enough for longer screws and I'm worried that when I torque them up they may strip with only a couple threads engaging.
Searching the net I found a few threads that say the mounting screws are different lengths but every set of x-locks that I've looked at has the same length of screws in the package.
At least you realized they are too short. I had them strip the first couple of threads in the action because of that. Even called browning and they said they are fine. But they are wrong as any Mill Write will tell you the general about screw lengths is 1.5x the diameter of the hole. Or something like that. Anyways it's more than 3 threads. I had Alberta Tactical mount the scope. They probably have longer screws. I found that hobby shops carry the right screws but the heads where to large.
