Default Single Shots

I haven’t shot a bird in 20 years. I got into the fall fishing pretty hard. Just never had enough time to hunt. Even sold my shotgun. Now that I’m retired I’ve decided to get back into chasing game birds and pheasants. I went out and bought a Stevens 12 gauge single shot. Modified chock and a 28” barrel. I wasn’t interested in shooting migratory birds. So off I went. What a difference when you shoot a single shot. You have to make sure you hit what you’re aiming at the first time. It’s like riding a bike you never forget how. It’s been a blast.

Good for you! Putting the fun into it is what hunting is all about. It looks like the single shot is treating you well!

It's great to see you back hunting birds. I don't use a single shot shotgun anymore, but I did start out with a single shot 410, for ruffed grouse and sharptailed grouse.

That's some nice birds Dale. My dad always used a single shot way back when and bragged how he could take more birds with a pocket full of shells than my uncles with their fancy shotguns. I remember it kicked like a mule too. I have it now and it is our camping bear scare gun.
