Black bears
Unless they are tanned, they are illegal for you to sell.....but if you have a trapping license and sell them at auction or to a fur buyer its legal.

Black Bear Skin
Looks like I spoke a little soon....I guess I should research my answers a little more. Sorry if I misguided you. Spruce
This is from the Hunting Reg Q and A thread.
Question: I would like to hunt black bear for eating purposes and have no interest or money for taxidermy. What am I supposed to do with the unwanted bear hide?
Answer: Anyone that hunts black bears in Alberta under the authority of a recreational hunting licence must salvage the skin. Section 41(2) of the Wildlife Act says a person who kills a black bear, or who has a black bear skin in their possession, shall not allow the skin to be wasted, destroyed, spoiled or abandoned. This applies to black bear taken under a licence, but does not apply to black bear killed where no licence is required (circumstances set out on page 32 of the Alberta Hunting Regulations). Therefore, despite the primary purpose of hunting a black bear for eating, you must plan on preserving the skin.
If you do not want to retain the hide yourself, it is still your responsibility to ensure the hide is not wasted, destroyed, spoiled or abandoned as detailed in the Wildlife Act. If you do not want to retain it yourself, it is quite acceptable to arrange to give it to someone who wants it. Also, another option is that the skin of a legally taken black bear can be sold without restriction to anyone.

I have one I will part with cheap. Med size at best tho, PM me.
Frozen since May, paws & claws on, head caped proper.
You will need to complete the tanning.

That's funny. In Ontario it is the exact opposite.
A trapper can sell a raw pelt of a blackbear as long as the skin is complete, but cannot sell a tanned bearskin unless it has previously been sold and bought thru a licenced fur dealer.
It is also acceptable to toss a bear hide in the dump, but it is an offense not to utilize the meat or let it spoil.

I can't find the logic here.
Can't sell raw fur or cape to just anyone but you can sell a tanned one.
Tanning is always the end result.
What would you do with raw fur other than tan it?

By cheap I mean free.
Pm me if anyone wants this bear hide.
If not gone by labor day, I will be taking it / donating it, dropping it off at a tanner.
It's a good hide for someone to try their hand at tanning one their self.

Hi. Western Fur Tannery is always looking to buy bear hides. If you have any available, you can call Stanley at (780)469-9345 or text (780)707-4184.
Looking for mid to large hides. The head and paws must be in tact. If you are not experienced in skinning, we request that you leave the skull and paws in. Thanks.
