Default Just a tease

My daughter has today off from her university studies
She was a little alarmed that a couple “horses “ got out and started munching on my burn pile
She sent me a video

I told her it was alright, as they didn’t have saddles, so they hadn’t thrown their riders and bolted lol

I do enjoy wild game, but I have always deemed game close to home off limits, as I’d rather see them than not. The cow is a resident of a couple sloughs in behind me, and this is the second calf I’ve seen her with. My breeding program is working out beautifully lol.

Yup and if everyone would pass on the females we would have more bulls to hunt. Good job.

I prefer eating moose to looking at antlers .
If the carrying capacity of the area I hunt warrants antlerless tags, I'll hunt it

Yup and how many years does it take to get a bull tag where you hunt and what is the success rate.

In my area it is not a big wait, about three years I think

However , there are unsubsidized tags available in a couple of areas near to me for the late season every year.
Access is limited, and 519, 518,530, 631,542 have NEVER had a large moose population compared to whete I apply for my draws, which are in farmland down south . There are lots of antlered tags every year, but there is also a bigger waiting period.
With the preponderance of twin calves in the areas , and a first year special calf draw available it is more desirable for me .
I can get drawn about every second yeR for a special calf draw . Apparently according to some, it makes me a lesser hunter if I have no desire to hunt bulls only.
I don't give a dam what these people think !

And you shouldn’t give a dam either cause if you weren’t shooting them someone else would be.

My only point is and this is nothing against you Cat, if we closed the antlerless seasons, stopped unregulated hunting, reduced bear(grizzly and black) and reduced wolves probably within 5 years draw wait times for antlered moose would be cut in half. But I know I’m only dreaming.

If we stopped unregulated hunting of cows - especially in the later season , we could pull a general tag like we used to be able to .
