Pickerel rigs are *okay* but they're far from ideal. Cheap hooks and components that can fail when you need them the most. Personally, I don't trust them.
That being said, the 3 way swivel rig that BeeGuy mentioned is a safe way to go - as is anything you tie yourself really. Then you know what line, hooks, etc go in to the rig.
Personally I tie a rig with my weight on the end of the line, and one or two snelled hooks coming off my main line which then stand out from the main line in the current
