Default Big Coyote

Caught a hog of a coyote last week and I thought that I'd share a picture of it. I didn't weigh it but I'm guessing in the 45 to 50 lb range. Just loaded with fat! The one on the right was a big male but the long one.......
Really nice fur on it as well.

If he was any bigger you'd have to make up a new board. Thanks for sharing, he's a great coyote.

Dave,

What do you use to post your pictures? There must be a new site people are using that my computer blocks, all I ever see is a little "X" box, no pic.
Sounds like a big Yote.

I use imgur.com. You might have to adjust your settings on your computer or download something or other to view pictures. I don’t know, i’m Not much of a computer guru.

I've said it before but Holy they seem dark. I don't know where you are trapping but I trap in central alberta but work the whole west side of the province and put on tons of miles everywhere and hardly ever see dark yotes like that even way back in the middle of nowhere. Are you north west per chance. That's about the only place I dont spend much time. Just curious and yes that's a big dog. Nice work my friend.

The big one was caught about 40 or 50 kms north/northwest of Edmonton (within 20 kms of Morinville). The one to the right of it was caught at the same bait site. They look a little darker because I had just turned them and they were a little damp. I combed the fur towards the head so some of the darker underfur shows making them look a little darker. Once they are dried and the fur combed down they appear a little lighter but they all grade BRN, DK, DK BRN, etc. No pale top lot coyotes for me but many grade very well.

Funny how different packs are. I can snare 10 kms east and catch mostly light brown, almost orange, ones and then go 10 kms west of there and catch mostly all dark grey ones. As long as they aren't mange or mites I'm okay with it.

This is the big one and the one to the right of it. I'm not sure which 2 were the others:
