Default Drones

I’m going to bring up an old debate and see what people think.

I personally don’t have a drone nor will I any time soon but it’s been thrown around in conversations amongst fellow Hunters. It appears to be unethical to some degree but ethics can be argued against many other activities with legal devices. For example, real time trail cameras, sonar and other under water equipment that enable anglers to locate fish with ease. Ethics can go in many directions but I’m curious what people think.

Legally it is not allowed as it clearly states in the Regs; you cannot use an unmanned aircraft to communicate for the purpose of hunting and locating wildlife.

Personally, I would like to see them banned for all personal use. The exception being for those that use them for real world work purposes. I hate hearing those things in the air. The last thing I want is to be casting a line into the water and hearing something that sounds like a thousand wasps in the air. I find they drive dogs nuts as well only adding to the noise. Far to many possibilities of for them being used for malicious intent. Plenty of documented cases of them already being used to smuggle drugs into prisons or to spy on people. I have already had them fly over hunting spreads on private property to scare away birds. Whether its legal or not there are still many people who use them to hunt or to interfere with hunts.

As it is against the Law to use a Drone while hunting, the ethics question doesn't enter in to it. As far as the regs go a Drone is classified as an aircraft so the 12 hr rule (or whatever it is) applies to Drones. There is also a chance you could be charged for harassing Wildlife if Drones are used for photographing
wild critters as well.

As a Wildlife location tool Drones are only marginally effective anyway and the chances of losing or damaging an expensive Drone are quite high. They sometimes malfunction .Just ask me. There's a near new Mavic Air and a Phantom out there somewhere. Not ethical at all.

It's already illegal to use them for hunting so what's the debate?wanting them banned because you don't like them or understand them is as ignorant as the anti gunners wanting guns banned because they don't like them. If we're banning em for noise we should look into loud exhaust pipes, fireworks and my neighbors yappy little dog.

This is no different than the ban all guns rhetoric.

That should tax bad ideas, that way there would be no more bad ideas.

So just because you're having lunch you're not hunting but you're still in the woods, I'm hunting all the time might not be moving sometimes might be sitting down eating but I'm still hunting

It’s the exact same principle.
