Im going to have to go against the grain on this one, i believe good optics are important. The savage mark II heavy barrel will shoot disgustingly well and run you around 300 bucks i would spend the other 300 on either a leupold vx1 or leupold rimfire series scope. The czs are beautiful rifles and also shoot very well but id sonner take a less pretty gun that shoots well with nice glass(its hard to shoot what yu cant see). Which ever way you decide to go enjoy it!

Here`s a smith who started with an off the rack CZ and then built it better which I`d be having done over time, but one needs to start with a good rifle for the project to finish well.

Actually, the Leupold rimfire VX-II ran me a little over 400. But it's a damn fine scope! Well worth the price though if you can scrape up the money. I have the VX-II 3-9X33 EFR. Very good piece of glass.

CZ... even buying the scout and adding a spacer for Length of Pull........ (to keep cost down).

Send me a PM if you decide to go that route....might be able to help you out..

Triggers can be reworked with good success. They are pretty rough out of the box but can be improved on...........

i have a henry 22 lever action and am very happy with it. very smooth action holds 15 rounds and only cost me around 250 although that was 3 or for years ago. it they are still at that price you could buy a better scope.

Default Can't beat a Savage heavy barrel

CZ are nice but they won't outshoot a Savage MKII BV or BTV and the Savage will cost a whole lot less and has the Accutrigger. Put a 4-12 Bushnell Banner or better yet a Bushnell Legend 5-15 and go punch some dime size wholes.
Just my opinon... and everyone has one.
