Late September is pre rut. Early to mid October full rut.

in my experience, if in the right spot. you will see the most activity in 212 first week of Oct for Bull moose.

I’ve seen a lot of activity middle of September, called a lot of bulls in for fun hunting elk.

I agree, mid sept and the pre-rut can be golden. I have seen bulls locked up pin wheeling in a meadow while the cows are there on Sept8th.
