I already picked it....my 7-08....

Actually....my 7-08 is at the gunsmith right now and has now officially been reamed out to 7-08 Ackley Improved....

Why do I like my 7-08? It has all the power needed for all Alberta big game, its a pleasure to shoot, it has a variety of bullet choices, its cheap to shoot and reload for, long bbl life, and I'm a sucker for short actions...

I've owned several cartridges including the 30-06, 25-06, 284Win (a runner up for my favorite), 7RM, 30/30, 303Brit, 303Sav, 260Rem....they all do the trick, but I gotta stick with what I'm happy with now and cant complain or find any fault on the 7-08....

But then again, its all personal, so I'm sure we'll have a vast response of cartridges for sure....oh and you're missing a PILE of really solid cartridges on the poll IMO...

None of the above, simply because I hunt everything with smaller calibers.

IF I were to hunt Gizzly, it would be with my 9.3X74R.
The majority of my huntng is done with 6.5 calibers.

Use what you got. I use a 416 Rigby for everything. 8 seasons now. Very happy

Yep Big Gaps! 25-06 and 284 deserve mention but good Idea good to see the result.

300WSM was my pick but all the 300 less the RUM are so close.

Of course everyone argues that their personal fav should be on the list. However, seems to me there are probably more .308's around than, say, .280's or 7mm-08's and only the latter made the list (and no, I don't own any of those LOL)

How is it the 357 made your list? I assume you are talking about the 357 Win. that was chambered in the 94 BigBore(I know of only one hunter who uses one). And not the 357 Rem Mag. which can be used in a rifle for big game hunting but would be a close range deer cartridge at best.

I have never hunted with a "rifle" chambered in anything from your list so I can not vote on this one.

I hate to harp on this but again the title asks about a "fav. rifle" and then no mention is made of a "rifle" It is all about cartridges.

I stand corrected about the 375 Win. not a 357 Win. I actually went to edit the post and then thought I'd just not post it till I checked. But somehow it got up.

So that means... what 357 are you talking about wbyfireman?

Okatoker, Yes I am different. And so I hunt with some different rifles and cartridges. .264 Win. Mag., 7X57 mauser, .300 savage, . .243 win. a couple different muzzleloaders, A Rem. 1100 shotgun and sabot slugs.

I have a new gun in .284 but I haven't drawn blood with it yet.

Have a good one!

300 WBY. Does everything well in my mind. Plus some sentimental value to me. Also the 270 Win for the exact same reasons.

When you do a poll, you can only have 10 picks.

My favorite rifle currently chambered for the 30-06 will be wearing a barrel chambered for the 280 AI before fall.
