Pads on Fiberglass are glued on , so it’s easier to blend in the line joint between the pad and stock by sanding and blending them in and then painting . One could install the pad after it was painted but will get epoxy on paint and that can be a pain to clean off before it sets and the joint will not be as smooth and blended .
