Default Headspace

What could be a result of firing a magnum rifle with either too much or too little headspace?!?

Same as a non magnum rifle , really.
Popped primers, powder spraying back in your face, locked up bolts, tail pieces flying off, split or over stretched cases, busted extractors, or even worse .......

Too little headspace, and you won't be able to chamber the round either, or if you can, you will find your pressures high. Too much, and your brass will stretch, or as Cat has said possibly come apart.

Ummmm let's see 40-50,000 psi. of very hot gas finding somewhere else to go ..... other than sending your bullet down the barrel.. hummmmmm not a good thing, me thinks.

I've seen headspace off on a Browning M2, I know a .50 cal isn't a "Magnum" but none the less it was off and it blew the head right off the case. Now I don't know about you but I wouldn't want any casing coming apart that close to my face, magnum or not!
