Default Turkey Frozen to bottom of Freezer!

Lol.

I’m sure this sounds idiotic, but I am supposed to be having a deep fried turkey dinner with friends soon. I offered to bring the turkey since I’ve had one in my freezer that should be used up.

Went to get that rascal out to start dethawing today only to find he’s stuck to the bottom of the freezer real good!

Obviously enough frost or whatever melted during the last power outage.

Anyone got a brain wave how to get him out without wrecking my freezer or my turkey??

I tried a few good thumps with the end of a baseball bat, hoping to jar it loose but it didn’t budge.

Not sure what you have left in your freezer or how big it is. Get some coolers and ice, fill coolers with other food and unplug freezer. Open lid put a fan blowing inside, let it thaw. Pull out bird, wipe out water, plug back in, refill. Good to go or buy another bird. Should be good sales on right now

Take the freezer outside and build a fire. Take the coals from the fire and put them around the frozen turkey inside the freezer. Close the lid for 4 hours. Mmmmmm. The turkey won't be deep fried. It will be deep freezered.

Kidding aside warm water will work the best. Then when the water freezes as a sheet on the bottom take the ice out of the freezer in pieces.

Maybe something like these (and due care) would help?

Tannerite.

Unplug freezer for a few hours and pour a kettle full of hot water around it while pulling up on it.

Maybe won't fit in the oven though . What a sick mind I have. Must have been those new cookies my kid brought home. Just kidding. Take it with a grain of salt. You can also put salt around it.

I dont know why you would want to put the dog in the oven... he/she is just to remove the turkey from the freezer

Here have another cookie

I sucessfully chipped out frozen items in freezer with a very carefully aimed large screw driver w/small hammer. Just chisel around the turkey & wear safety glasses.

Haha. Thanks for the great responses, those practical and those that aren’t too. Haha

This puppy is in there pretty good!

The tannerite idea is tempting and I do have a good supply I haven’t used for a while....

Unplugging would work eventually but not real quick as freezer is in my unheated porch.

I might be buying a new bird. Lol

Problem being I need this sucker ASAP

There isnt no other way to quickly do it though, heaters, hair dryers etc take hrs, OP asked for quickest & that is it... maybe Greta has better freezer warming advice.

I wonder if salt packed tightly around the base would work... chiseling would need extra care taken as freezer linings arent all that strong. Maybe a combination of the two

The cooling tubes and what have you are in the sides of the freezer only or the bottom of it too?

No sure how rough I can get with the thing.

The freezer linings Ive seen are just 1/8" or so plastic... pretty weak. Im thinking pack salt then wait, then carefully pry and wedge then repack salt, repeat.

Exclamation Use heat instead of impact

If you are considering using tools, you can be a little rougher on a metal lined freezer versus plastic lined.
Since you need to thaw the turkey anyways, use a heat gun to melt the ice and defrost the entire freezer while you are at it. It's faster than a hair drier.

Yeah I’ve got one of those paint stripping heat guns. I’m envisioning melted shrink wrap cooked to turkey though.

I also have tiger torch and oxy/accetalene.

New Turkey 30 bucks and you have it immediately. Fastest option by far. New freezer 600 bucks. Not too hard to figure out to me.
