Default Light weight camera

Hey all,

Can anyone recommend a medium to high quality video camera that is light weight and easy to pack in and out of the bush. Would like some decent zoom but I realise the limitations of digital zooms...

Thanks in advance

I'd recommend the https://www.mcbaincamera.com/product...n_id=3145854.1
Sell a lot of them to Fish and Wildlife who use them in the field and find them to be very good...lightweight, rugged and a good zoom range.
There is a rebate on at the moment from Panasonic which ends Oct 24...AO price til that date is $499.00
PM me if interested (I'm the AO contact at McBain's)

I have the 200 series of this and love it. If you do some Googling you will find it gets some great reviews. Shoots in low light and great video. I am sure the 800 and 1000 series are even better.

As with most amateur/prosumer cameras the Panasonic is not totally weather sealed. Using it in a inclement weather will entail some risk, but as long as you try to keep it somewhat dry and shelter from driving rain or sleet you will be okay.
It's not meant to sit in a snowbank. To get complete weather sealing you will be looking at a substantially larger unit (probably not what you want to be packing into the backcountry) and spending substantially more money ($1000+)
Here is a typical review of the camera https://www.trustedreviews.com/revie...asonic-hc-v770
If you are really concerned about weather proofing you may be better to go with something like https://www.mcbaincamera.com/product...n_id=3012054.2 Though it is primarily a still camera it does do very good video. The problem with the 'tough' style of camera is they are usually limited to 3 or 5x zoom because of the constraints of keeping the lens totally enclosed in the weather sealed body.
