Have one in the safe. It’s my dads but I haven’t shot it, he wants to keep it iron sights, truthfully with his eyes he should get a scope for it. But he doesn’t use it much.

Hands down the best lever action in my safe is the .338 marlin express. If I could only own one lever that’s what it would be. A legitimate 400 yard rifle that feels like a real lever gun. Mine will never go anywhere.

That said, it’s not only an open sight, short range proposition so not what your OP was asking about.

That’s perfectly fine with me, honestly I didn’t expect you to sell anyways. That’s another very very nice rifle.

I have a Winnie trapper in 30-30 and a BLR in 450 marlin. Just can't seem to let that 450 go.
Always wanted a 71 in the 348.
Or a Win 65 in 218 bee

I had a Trapper. I didn’t like the thick barrel they use to accommodate the 44 mag and 45 LC.
I almost had a 71 in 348. (Miroku). Still mad I was too slow.

I like my Marlin 45/70 SBL best and I am good with it.
The ghost ring sights are my favourite and the over all length to weight ratio
Balance this rifle out really nice when fully loaded. The recoil is manageable when shouldered correctly. I can knock out a whole box of shells gopher hunting and not be sore anyways. I wish I could say that about my KSG shotgun, I’ve knocked a crown out of my mouth twice using 3” Winchester super x slugs. It was about 50 shots in a row however.

I don’t buy the hype about the original marlin factory being the best theory. The process and tolerance is just as good as it ever was. The problem to begin with was when they started out using the old and worn out equipment they got when they purchased the marlin name brand. Marlin sold for a reason
