In the smiley, kerrobert area. No snow geese on ground or on water. Thousands in the air. So high need a cannon to knock them down. All headed north and not showing any sign of slowing down. Behind in the breeding and appears that all that’s on their mind. Might not stop till they get up north. Saw this happen years ago when same conditions. Geese went thru in less than a week.

We drove all over hell today over 12 hours cruising and only say a smattering of snows. Last week there were 100 thousand easily.

At the risk of sounding vain (no one truly likes a braggart) .. one of those geese stayed behind with me.

I was out fishing some open water on Monday near Airdrie, later in the evening I don't know what I saw, maybe about 15 birds landed on the opposite side of the ice pack far over on other side away from me, all a lighter dark gray with no other color markings from what I could see, not even a black beak and a BIGGER bird than the normal goose. Never seen these before, they only stayed 5 to 10 mins, maybe I spooked them as I started to walk again. I'm not a bird hunter so unsure of what species, but surprised me to see these birds and how big there were.

Nope... they looked like a goose just way bigger. I've seen lots of birds but nothing like these before. I searched online and couldn't ID.

Digging little deeper if I had to make a guess juvenile tundra swans? They sounded like normal geese but had a slight off tone which was what grabbed my attention. They did look very nice but not on any hunters menu...

Yup.
A few of my hunting clan were by Vegreville the other morning and came home with just over 190 birds.
Great shoot wish I could have been there.

Was out Friday and scouted about 200km of fields and found only three small groups mixed with specks and canadas. Decided to set up on water and got into some birds without problem. They just dropped in without thinking.
