They are a neat critter. We come across a few every year and they are usually pretty common. I am often able to call them closer or keep them around by making squeaks on my hand. I have had quite a few within 10yards doing this

Nope lynx are for trappers only in Alberta

If we could hunt them I would have one mounted on my wall already

You can hunt them in BC. GOS tag.

Default lynx

I would think even in BC the local trapper would be quite ****ed with hunting yahoos shooting His fur on His registered trapline. You might want to step carefully on his trapping trails.

Beautiful cats aren't they. Such wise looking characters.

Thank you for sharing!

It’s not an issue and very few people outside of houndsmen hunt them

Personally I never had an issue with any cat hunters on my old trapline in regards to hunting lynx or bobcat on my old traplines in B.C.. I also can’t think of any of the trappers I knew with lines in BC complaining out side of one miserable old bugger who complained about everything

Let’s be realistic most trappers are not relying on fur for a living anymore

When you respect its a shared resource and you don’t mess with each others activities it’s not an issue

Doesn't matter what the trapper thinks. I'm new to Alberta, but in BC a Trapline does not have any bearing on a hunter utilizing the same area. I hunted around traplines all the time. Never an issue.

Lynx are managed in Alberta through a trapper quota system at present. That might not mesh with a wide open hunter season.
