Default Kijiji flakes

I have a marine stater battery for sale on kijiji.
Had 3 guy email / call saying they wanted it and would be here the next
day.
None of them called or showed up.
Does a persons word mean nothing anymore?
****es me off.

I'll post it here in the buy sell forum.

Seems everyone is treated this way when trying to sell something, not just on kijiji. Only the folks with some integrity won't leave you waiting, so living in Canada you can gauge how many folks will actually show up. Most folks I know will not hold their breath or item until someone shows up at the doorstep with cash in hand. I bought a snowblower from a fella, he lives smack dab in the middle of 600,000 people, and of the 30 folks that were coming, I am the only one that actually showed up.

We just went through an estate sale, several items were on Kiiji I would say 10% of respondents were serious the rest were just a waste of time. Some people really have nothing better to do.

Sounds like a typical day selling on Kijiji Been there too many times, my favorite is the "cash" low ball offers. Like their telling me what I should sell it for.

Ya, I like it when they say "cash"...

As if I was gonna take a cheque or credit card...

I also have a desk chair listed for free.
I had one person text me saying she would be here around 6 for it.

ummm... it's almost 8...

I have a couple items on Kijiji, and you need a lot of patience and also have to deal with a bunch trolls.

Not just the buyers, trying to get a seller to respond to an email or return a call if they post their phone number is pain in the behind too.

I have some stuff listed on Kijiji, I have guys email all the time asking if I still have the item, I always reply yes I do and give them my phone number and then I never hear from them again. It's like they're just checking to see if I still have it......
I have a motorcycle listed on there right now, had an email today asking if I'd consider payments of $200/month. I asked him how he'd feel waiting 5 years for his payment and that was the end of that conversation!

I'd take payments... but he doesn't pick it up until the last payment is made!

It's starting to sound like trolling on kijiji could be a lot of fun. I might make some ridiculous offers on the pets for sale forum tonight.

kijidiots are the worst, and there are so many of them. I always heard that Craigslist was so bad, apparently they all follow suit.
Letgo is just as bad

I used to have the same problem then I changed the way I posted ads.

I always write in all caps, PRICE IS FIRM at the top and bottom of the ad.

I always write in all caps PICK-UP ONLY at the top and bottom of the ad.

After I started doing this replies from low ballers and tire kickers dropped off substantially, you will still get a few knobs who reply but I have found that doing this weeds out most of the idiots. I still have no problem selling items with this typed in the ad.

Oh and it seems they can't read either lol. I just sold a trailer frame, right in the ad it said in cap letters NO VIN #, NO wiring or lights. First question always...does it have a Vin #? Second does it have lights? Only posted 6 pics of the darn thing too.

Homer says DOH

How do you sell the same battery to three different people?

First guy buys the battery and the other two show up for nothing?

It's not escapable in any capacity. The trade offers just slay me. NO TRADES in bold and every time "Hey man ya, I was wonderin' if you still had that ....ing (so & so)? Right on! Would you trade for a (insert POS you have no use or want for)". I have noticed a bit of a trend though. I call it the $5000 & Under Club. Seems to be a distinct line drawn in the sand north of that price point on the class in which a person brings to a potential transaction. Not in every case but holds true in a lot of them in my experience.

Yup, common place now. I'm shocked when someone actually shows up lately. To weed some out I tell them all to call or msg when your on your way and I'll give you the address. I don't usually hear back from 9 out of 10 buyers after that.

As a friend in the car business told me, "Buyers are liars". He was referring to all the promises of showing up, that never happens.

I had a friend sell something for $50 on Kijiji. The buyer wanted it for $30 they agreed on $40. When my friend went to meet at the local shoping center, the buyer never showed. So he texts him and the buyer says if you wanted me to show up you should have taken $30. Now that's a new low, buyer doesn't like the price so he sets up a meet with no intention of showing up?

There are flakes in every form of sales, I stopped delivering items to people on this forum because too many times I would load whatever in the car or truck and head to Edmonton only to haul it home again. No text email im or phone call, just nothing. E transfer or direct deposit now or come get it.

Kijiji is brutal, especially with used vehicles. Problem is i've actually moved a lot of good stuff on there so it's hard not to use it not to mention it's free for most ads.

The ones that really get me ticked off are the ones that wouldn't take more than one crappy pic of the item .

For just a few moments more , one could take two or three plus pics and upload them

Case in point , I've been looking for a used dishwasher ( $ 150 or less ) for our cabin .

some have one pic of the outside front of dishwasher ( gee , I can see that its a dishwasher vs a stove ) but maybe get a little closer

Or in a couple of cases , it's out in the garage with all sorts of stuff piled on it . ( they did renos , bought new ones bla bla bla )

One had 4 pics of the front , you almost could even tell they moved position between pics , but nothing from inside ....

do they not realize that a pic of the inside is just as important

and then they are asking very high price compared to comps .

and they'll repost it everyday .

Course there are ones that are old pos , but the seller does an excellent job of pics and description etc .
