I got them done for me, so not exactly sure how they were done. But think he boiled them and then used Hydrogen peroxide.

Don't know what the animals are, but the skulls look good. I was going to to a goat skull this year, but are not sure how to handle the horns. They are not attached the same way that antlers are.

The horns need to be removed and then skull boiled. To remove horns you will need to rot them off. Remove as much tissue as you can, eyes and brain. Put skull in plastic bag and tie up, then put that bag in another bag and tie up. Now get a rubbermaid container and place bag in it and put the lid on tight. Let sit in a warm place for couple weeks. Take outside to pull out of bag, horns should pull right off. Wear rubber gloves. Simmer with soda ash and dawn dish soap, then take to car wash and pressure wash it clean. You will now have to whiten it. I use Basic White and 40 volume peroxide.

Good luck

I did a ewe................the horns are a sheath, covering a small stub emerging from the skull. If boiling, the sheaths will soften and come right off of the stub. Once removed, clean out the sheaths, as they contains matter that will stink real bad, if not cleaned out. After finishing the skull and cleaning out the sheaths, glue the sheaths onto the stubs.............if you don't glue them on, they will be falling off all the time.

Boiling is for antlers.. rotting is better for horned critters

Boiling has nothing to do with antlers. Boiling a horned skull below the horns will get the horns off in a hurry. I'll continue to boil them. Whatever floats your boat...

I agree.. I've boiled off hundreds of horns and never had a problem, key is don't over boil or you will crack/split the horn. Usually 20 minute boil will loosen the horn enough to pop it off...

Jim...

My daughter the hair dresser, has a source, I'm waiting to hear back from her, as to where, and if John Q can buy it.

Yup John Q can walk in.
It's
Sally Beauty Supply on Calgary Trail in Edmonton.

Regular house hold bleach works also. An old Taxidermy taught me this secret .
A little expense to fill a tub full bleach, I have found best to wrap the scull in some old towel, then bleach it down a few times and leave it and forget about it .
First time I did , I checked it in a day and it still looked the same so I add more bleach again and l kicked it in a corner in the garage. Two weeks later I happened across the bucket and she was white as could be.
