Which Pellet grill should I buy?
Traeger? Louisiana Grills? Green Mountain Grills? Pit Boss? Vermont Castings?

If Canadian made means anything. I have a friend that has a Broil King Regal 500 and thinks it great.

I picked up GMG a month ago. Wish i had one years ago. Got two other buddies that got the same. Don't think I will use my NG weber bbq anymore. Nice thing with the GMG it will do 550F
What are others doing, keeping their gas bbq or selling them?

I have traeger. Would love to have a yoder. Costco generally has a Louisiana Grill deal for $699 every year. If you wait for it, it’s a deal that can’t be beat. I think for the most part the work fairly similarly until you start getting into the higher end units.

I’ve been happy with my GMG Davy Crockett. I want to get a Daniel Boone.
I’ve heard that the Traegers aren’t what they used to be, they cheaper out on them and their customer service is garbage.
The new GMG prime plus grills look nice with the rotisserie attachment and window with a light inside.

I have an older basic Traegar, not because I think it is the best but because it was a gift. 🤷🏼*♂️
I’ve been very happy with it though.

I’ve had a Traeger for about 9yrs. It has been awesome but with the reviews I’ve seen I wouldn’t buy another. I’ve heard good things about the GMG’s.

Gmg
My vote is gmg. I know 8 guys with them over many years and no complaints. I've had mine since january and gave away natural gas grill. Highly reccomend sherwood park homehardware also. Barry wont be beaten for price plus he is a great guy and very knowledgeable. Plus I think they are 15% off or were at least a week or two ago

I bought a GMG Jim Bowie and have no regrets. The grill has been fantastic so far and I would recommend one.
If I was to do it again, I'd take a serious look at a Broil King because it is Canadian made and gets really good reviews.

I would love to believe Broil King was made in Canada, and Im opening (hoping) to be proven wrong here guys.
But after researching some of the grills you guys suggested, I came across this review for the Broil King Regal 500.
Maybe the GMG is then better??
Cheers

Only some parts are sourced globally, meaning China. The majority is made in North America.
From their website.

The cookbox, steel cart / cabinet, shelves and many other components are all fabricated by our skilled North American workforce with quality North American sourced steel. Our barbecue grill components are sourced with preference given to domestic suppliers whenever possible but do include some globally sourced components.

I bought the GMG Daniel Boone and love it, easy setup easy to use and I especially like the 12 volt electronics. If need be, I can take it practically anywhere and use it. What’s nice is that you have 13.5” of vertical room on the inside.

RecTec Grills is another you should consider. You have to order it from their website but they are a fantastic grill and customer service is second to none.

This is the one I’m leaning towards. Where did you guys order your GMG through?

I am the same boat. Not too sure what to buy.
Think I have narrowed it down to BK Pellet Pro 500 or a Rectec. They both look like a high end Pellet smoker and still a lot cheaper than a Yoder.

No major failures in 3 years. But very poorly designed-Analog controls with digital readout.
To have any sort of control of the cooking result, the temperature should be adjustable in a minimum of 5 degree increments IMHO
Yet my Pit Boss goes up in 25 degree increments until it goes up in 50 degree increments and then back to 25 degree increments.
So my options are Smoke-200F-225F-250F-300F-350F-400F-450F-475F-High
So if I would like to set 325f-Good luck.
I could play with the P settings which affect pellet auger run time, but due to the temp sensor being located inches from the firepot it is horribly ineffective.
Temp swings from right to left are a frustration as it reduces the usable footprint to about the size of one steak.
Cleaning the ashpot is like playing a bad game of Tetris
And ash distribution across the surface of my food looks like I peppered everything.
But I think it is ok for entry level due to such a low price point.
Below minus 10C my auger squeals like a cat caught in a fan belt and continues for the duration of the cook.
My 2cents

Saw one of these in the Red Deer Home Hardware. Built like a tank and only 4 Grand.

GMG all the way. Worth every cent. There customer service is unreal and the product is built to last a lifetime.
ALSO of note GMG chips are made from actual wood blends, maple, mesquite ect. Where as Traeger pellets are pretty much pelletized sawdust with liquid flavour mixed in.

I have the Daniel Boone.
Got it about 5yrs ago. Havnt had a single issue with it yet, I keep it clean and it cooks real nice.
I kept my natural gas bbq for the first year just in case and we never used it once.
GMG has multiple dealers across Alberta. I bought mine locally in Lloydminster at R&D Plumbing.

i have a GMG and a Grilla Silverbac. The GMG is lighter built and has a hot spot. My only complaint of the Grilla was it didn't have the best controller but they've fixed that now so i'd recommend it. if i bought another i'd also look at the Rec Tec.

I’m hoping to get into the completion side of things eventually and want to use a Gateway Drum, but they are pricey too. So many options and they are all pumping out great food!
