If u find a chemical that will produce a soft tan such as a commercial tanner, let me know.
I doubt any store bought chemicals out there will do a comparable job.
Be prepared to work and break all of your self chemically tanned hides.
A large tumbler will help for sure.

Nope, don't know of such a chemical.

The softening process is not majorly dependant on the tanning agent.

Get chewin'!

I used the stuff from Halfords comes as a kit .... I did three beavers a small medium and a bigger one ... the small turned out ok but the other two are stiffer by far still trying to break them more but wow doesn't seem to help ..... I do have a question while im breaking it I find the fur is oily from the tanning oil can I wash them again.. if so do I need to apply the tanning oil again...

i have just given the fur a quick rinse with the garden hose to get the excess oil out. you will have to break the leather again as it dries out. i use ez tan 100 which is an excellent washable tan. beaver are very difficult to get a soft tan without shaving the hide thin. that will help you achieve a soft tan more than anything else i've found... but it is tricky.
