Default What's the hunting like near Edson

Just wondering what the hunting is like near Edson. Mostly interested in Deer and Elk, but ducks and geese are of interest too. Is the area mostly under draw, lots of hunting pressure, good game populations. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Near Edson.... there is lots of deer and the elk hunting is good in my previous experiences but you have to know the area and where they usually are. Waterfowl i can't help you with. Lots of pressure the closer you get to town and on the main backroads. Draws... check the regs.

Last winter was pretty hard on deer here. Numbers are down, particularly mature whitetail bucks. Better further south towards Lodgepole and Rocky Mtn House.

Took a dry doe 2 weekends ago.. I have seen a few a few doe's mostly on the south-west section of 340.. but we were out for the morning yesterday and saw 2 cow moose with calves (4 total) but no deer to shoot at... In fact the only deer we saw that morning were at dark (morning) in zone 339.

That said I had taken out my father in law so we were only road hunting.. yes i know no one else here ever does that and it is not for "real" hunters but we did try to find some of the more out of the way places to get into. I do try to walk more cutlines but mobility is a little more difficult for him so that is what we did..

Thanks guys. I hear the bird, (duck goose) hunting is better the further east you go. I suppose I just have to start pre-scouting and getting to know a few farmers....

There was a 6x6 elk shot up there not to long ago. But the damn poachers thought that they would just leave it out in the field

Used to hunt there lots but just too many hunters and work traffic out there for me. If you can get permission on private land its better but even that is used up as far as I'm concerned.

I had a hard time in Robb a couple of years ago. That's a little further West, though.
