A flyer but may want to check if the motor was mounted correctly. Had a little 12ft with a 9.9 boat wouldn’t plain when 1 person was in boat. Placed a 1/2” thick block on top of transom for motor to sit on and presto, like a different boat.

Been reading thru these posts and looked up the boat that was purchased. Shame on the dealer for putting such a inadequate package together but end of day the person making the purchase should understand what they are purchasing. There is a reason why there has been so many previous posts on this forum about when buying a boat try to match the engine size to the boats max hp rating. This is the primary reason as to why.

There are so many configurations and variables when it comes to boats so comparing one to the other is difficult if not impossible. It appears the purchaser doesn’t want to accept that and is looking for answers that just aren’t there. A 4-blade prop or hydrofoil are just band-aids. You spent a handsome amount on a new boat strongly suggest you go back to the dealer and try to work an upgrade on the engine to a 90hp (boats max up rating).

Or fish with just by yourself to shed weight in the boat...

Also follow manufacturers break-in procedures to a tee or risk voiding manufactures warranty or engine life. The motor likely is recording its operational history so tread carefully..

FYI that’s the US Coast Guard rating. We live in Canada so you’ll want to refer to and follow the Canadian Transport sticker (likely rated for slightly less weight and 1 less person).

Those are really good videos on the basics of using boat trim.

Honestly though, I watched the OP's video 20 times and freeze framed it, I don't think it's a trim issue. It looks like it's trimmed down properly, exactly where it should be for take off. You wouldn't want to be trimmed up at the speed he's going, that would only make things worse.

Looks to me like a boat that's just struggling to get the load up onto plane. If one or two of the passengers went and sat in the bow, my guess is it would pop up on plane no problem.

Unless -

The one thing in the video that stands out to me is the motor height. It's mounted full down, resting on the transom. The other thing, and only because I've seen it before, is that the hull has a large transom cutout, so therefore requires a shorter shaft outboard. I know it seems far fetched, but does it have the correct shaft length outboard on it?

the lower transom is what I have and got the short shaft motor on....results was no issues….buddy put a long shaft on and he had issues...more farting around to get the boat more stable....definitely a science and many variables to consider.

100% agree.

You are not trimming up until you pop up usually.

I'd love to see the set up on it, yoke, transom plate, and a view of the motor leg down 90 degrees from the side. Many times that's where a "one or two hole" adjustment makes a dramatic improvement.

Please elaborate. I've been following this thread although I have no experience fixing problems as so many on here have done. I just use my boat and ride with others. Nonetheless, I'd like to know what worked for future reference.

That is, did you change only the prop?

What was the new one?

I believe you said you could only reach 10 mph originally. How fast with the new prop?

Yes, we got out of the water at 4600->5000 RPM than hold it at 4500
2 of us was even easier, staying up on plain at 4000RPM.
Did not do top speed test as engine still under 4-5hr
Hit about 20MPH and there was a lot of room left.
Unbelievable what a prop change made (or something the tech did with the engine but not sharing it with me)
Back to be a happy boater, even caught a nice jack and a few small walleye.

60HP is not unreasonable nor severely underpowered, could use more ? Probably!

Who knows, like I wrote they trow on then new prop and it’s all good, go and try it, no need for the tech to come out with me.
