Turning a 6.5cm into a 7-08 or .308
Is it possible to turn a 6.5cm into a 7-08 or 308 with minimal work?
Not looking for a new barrel, I’d rather have the barrel drilled out and rifled.
Just wondering my options

It’s probably far cheaper and easier to swap barrels

The cheapest is a take off barrel, if you can find one. A lot of gunbuilders and gunsmiths have take offs around.

I won't ask why, but wil offer this:
Easily done, but a rebore is not always the best , or cheapest solution.
A rebarrel certainly is in most cases.

Barrel swap is the easiest and probably the cheapest way to go.

Unless you're lucky enough to find a take off Vanguard barrel, the least expensive and likely the easiest option would be to sell the 6.5CM and replace it with the same rifle in your preferred calibre/cartridge.
New blank $500.00 or so, gunsmithing $150.00- $350.00 depending who you use, plus shipping/ fuel costs.
IMO

Yes it can in fact be done. I mentioned a rebore I. Post #8. However a rebarrel is a better idea .

Need to know why you want to go to a 7mm-08 or 308 before I can offer a suggestion.

How about 6.5CM to 6.5PRC?
Can that conversion be done by a gunsmith?

It's not as complicated as some would make it out to be, after all , it is a gunsmithing process not witchcraft.

Sell it and buy what you want. You'll save a ton of money and have something worth more in the end.
