Savage 1/12
TC 1/12
Ruger American 1/10

1/12 will stabilize a 64gr vld

Another thing to consider...if you are loading you 22-250 so they are going beyond 4000fps you'll go through barrels every 1500 rounds or so.
If you load them down to 3500fps or so you don't have this issue....but then (IMO) you may as well stick with the .223

1/12 is a slow twist.

1/8 is fast twist. Who manufactures a 22-250 in 1/8?

You are bergerboy so I will use berger as an example.
For .224 cal they list 52 then 54 then 70 gr. bullets and the optimal twist for each.

52 is 1/14
55 is 1/14
70 is 1/8

The 223 cartridge paired with 1/8 twist rifle will be much better suited to long range shooting than a 22-250 in a 1/12.
No offense implied bergerboy., just trying to make my point a bit more clear.

you need to think rpm 1 in 12 is faster in a 22-250 than a 223

No offence taken. If you refer to the original post it was to determine the best cartridge for long range varmint hunting. When hunting varmints like coyotes, a flatter shooting rifle is better to get lead on a target. At 600m, a 22-250 with a 64gr Berger will drop 64". A 223 with 80gr Berger drops 90". This will induce a very easy miss if the range is not perfectly obtained. The 223 with big heavy bullets is shooting a rainbow of an arc compared to a 22-250 with a lighter bullet. My point is, yes there are easier obtainable fast twists on the market to stabilize big silly bullets in a 223....by why would you? There are several "fast enough" twist 22-250's on the recent market that will stabilize bullets that will go long range and will still have good speed.

Default 223 vs 22-250

this issue will never be solved just kicked around to eternity, all boils down the personal preference, just like Ford, Chev and Dodge which do you like boys

You are right, in the first post he did not ask about long range. thanks
